A Fond Farewell to Robin Chandler

It is with much regret that we announce that Robin Chandler will be leaving the CDL on November 30th to accept an appointment as Digital Library Program Manager at UC San Diego. In preparing for Robin's departure, we have given considerable thought to how best to organize the diverse responsibilities currently performed by Robin's unit within the CDL.

Calisphere K-12 Partnerships

CDL's Calisphere team is partnering with the Alameda County Office of Education's CTAP Region IV and the UC Irvine History Project in order to promote best practices for teaching with primary source materials and achieve other objectives.

UC Image Service News: ARTstor and CDL visit UC Campuses in October

A demonstration highlighting the major features of ARTstor collections, tools, and services for a mixed audience of faculty and library staff is planned for all UC campuses.  Megan Marler of ARTstor will lead the demonstration.  Lena Zentall from CDL will be available to discuss the Image Service and UC Shared Images.

California Cultures

The Calisphere's California Cultures web site has been redesigned. The site now includes 3-5 historical topics for each of the included ethnic groups and browse terms as a way for users to easily access the content.

UC Merced: Japanese Art Collection Now Available Online

The UC Merced Library and the Clark Center for Japanese Art and Culture collaborated to make more than a millennium of Japanese art available online.

CDL Guidelines for Digital Objects, Version 2.0: Updated requirements for METS unique identifiers

The "CDL Guidelines for Digital Objects, Version 2.0" (CDL GDO) has been updated to reflect modified requirements for METS unique identifiers. 

American West Status Report

JARDA Site Re-Designed

The Japanese American Relocation Digital Archives (JARDA) was recently re-designed and updated to be an integral part of the Calisphere Web site. JARDA’s more than 10,000 government and personal photographs, official documents, transcribed oral histories, paintings, diaries, and other primary sources bring you inside the story of Japanese American incarceration during World War II.
