2008 was a busy year for our UC Libraries' book digitization activities. This article reviews those efforts.

New UC Shared Images Collections are Now Available via ARTstor

Select art and architecture images from UC Berkeley and UC Santa Barbara image collections are now available in ARTstor to all 9 ARTstor-participating UC campuses. These collections are listed on the ARTstor home page under Institutional Collections.

Library of Congress, Internet Archive, and CDL Team Up with Middle and High Schools for Web Archiving Project

The Library of Congress, Internet Archive, and CDL are collaborating on a project to archive web sites -- from the perspective of middle and high school students -- with a view toward preserving and integrating primary resources into the K-12 teaching curriculum.

Calisphere – Share it with your students!

Now that fall has returned and UC students are streaming back to campus, it's a good time to take another look at Calisphere with undergraduate students in mind.

New Collections in Calisphere and the OAC: Local History Digital Resources

Over 2,000 new digitized primary resources are now available in the CDL's Calisphere and Online Archive of California (OAC) websites as of September 2008. The collections offer unique glimpses into California local history, and were assembled by a range of institutions throughout the state.

New Collection in Calisphere and the OAC: AFL-CIO Papers and Proceedings

Approximately, 350 proceedings and papers dating back to 1901 from the records of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) are now available in Calisphere and the Online Archive of California (OAC).

Reporting problems with Google Books

Occasionally, book links in the catalog records link incorrectly to another book via the Google Books Search API. The best way to report these mis-links and other problems with the Google Books content is to use the Melvyl Catalog and WCL implementation feedback links to report the problem to CDL.

CDL Receives 2008-2009 LSTA Funding for the Local History Digital Resources Program

The CDL was awarded $111,000 in grant funding through 2008-2009 from the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) to provide preservation and access services as part of the "Local History Digital Resources Program" (LHDRP).
