New Resources – C19: The Nineteenth Century Index and Karger Online Journals

UC campuses now have access to C19: The Nineteenth Century Index and Karger Online Journals as part of CDL consortial licenses.

Users Council 2008 Annual Meeting – Catching Up

On Friday, May 9, the Users Council met in downtown Oakland for its annual meeting. The group, representing all of the UC campuses, the national labs, and a group of other California partners, heard about and discussed a host of issues. Meeting notes and PowerPoint presentations are now available.

Upcoming Platform and Database Changes

On July 1, 2008, Blackwell Publishing will merge with John Wiley and Sons; all Wiley-Blackwell's online products will be combined onto a single Wiley InterScience platform. Additionally, EBSCO's Academic Search Complete will replace Gale's Expanded Academic ASAP database.

Additional EBSCO Databases

Due to the recent licensing of EBSCO's Academic Search Complete, the UC libraries have received free access to several additional EBSCO databases. The new titles (in addition to Academic Search Complete) are available now, and can be accessed from the EBSCO dropdown menu.

Transition to EBSCO Academic Search Complete from Gale Expanded Academic ASAP

The UC campuses will have systemwide access to a new multidisciplinary database with full text content in the arts, social sciences, humanities and sciences beginning immediately via EBSCO Academic Search Complete. Access to Gale's Expanded Academic ASAP database ends on June 30, 2008.

UC campuses now have access to Physics Today Archive and the University of Chicago Press Online Journals as part of CDL consortial licenses.

Next Generation Melvyl Pilot: More Decisions Make It Real

In January and February, behind the scenes work of a different nature has been occurring for the pilot. Earlier the ball was primarily in UC's court to define our requirements within the context of OCLC's WorldCat Local service. Now, OCLC is building the pilot catalogs based on these requirements.
