What We’re Working On
As noted in our recent updates, many Merritt microservices have now been containerized and are being orchestrated through use of Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) and AWS Fargate! During the month of June, the Replication and LDAP services were migrated, which leaves us with the most complex services remaining – namely the Ingest, Storage and ZooKeeper services. We’ll be working on Ingest and Storage during the month of July. Deployment to the Stage ECS environment will take place during the week of July 6, after which extensive testing and additional feature development will take place. Specifically we’ll be extending the Ingest service so it can authenticate to campus infrastructure according to campus library needs. ZooKeeper, which provides the basis for Merritt’s job and batch queueing functionality will be last. It will require persisting data on an EFS volume, akin to requirements addressed for LDAP.
