Merritt is a digital preservation repository from the University of California Curation Center (UC3) that enables the UC community to manage, archive, and share its valuable digital content.

Content and Collections

Over 20 terabytes of new content was added to the repository during the month of April. The following collections were actively being expanded upon:

Digital Preservation Community

Preservation Week 2026: April 26 – May 2

Each year Core at the American Library Association celebrates Preservation Week by promoting community events, activities and resources surrounding preservation of Library, Archival and Museum collections. Free webinars are made available via the main Preservation Week website. Both UCLA and UC Berkeley are hosting unique Preservation Week events!

What We’re Working On

Merritt’s Audit (fixity checking) service has now moved to using containers in Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS)! The repository’s Access service in next and is currently deployed to the Merritt Stage environment. And the Replication and Inventory services will be next. Critical work is occurring for Merritt’s more complex microservices to ensure they can all shut down gracefully to allow for efficient autoscaling. This will allow ECS increase and subsequently reduce the number of containers running a particular service without losing track of current operations and queue entries. More on this work as we continue through the migration!
