Resource Liaison Listservs

Much of the communication that occurs between Resource Liaisons and CDL staff regarding licensed resources occurs via email.

There are a number of useful announcement-only lists (CDLINFO-L, CDLALERT-L, DLINSTRUCT-L and GENRES-L) that will be useful in your role as resource liaison — these lists are not limited to RL’s only — please feel free to recommend these lists to your UC library peers. Instructions on joining this list are below.

You will be added to the RESOURCE-L list and any relevant platform specific lists for your assigned resource — these lists are used for sharing information from CDL staff to Resource Liaisons, and as a discussion forum for topics raised by CDL staff or individual RL’s. Messages sent to this list will be received by the Resource Liaisons, as well as the CDL collections staff.

The RLREPORT-L@ucop.edu list is designed to be the primary conduit for Resource Liaisons to share information with CDL staff, including the Resource Liaison Coordinator. RLREPORT-L@ucop.edu should be cc’ed on correspondence with the vendor, as needed. Items that should be sent to this list include trouble reports, planned changes to resource, announcements for CDLINFO or for CDLAlerts, or anything else that is Resource specific and not suitable to the Resource-L list. All RLs may post messages to this list. Only CDL staff may read messages posted to this list.

All Resource Liaisons should sign up for the following lists:

CDLINFO-L

Purpose: CDLINFO-L is designed to inform UC Librarians, and the UC community, about the progress of the CDL, policy issues under discussion, and newly available electronic resources. We hope that subscribers from the UC libraries will pass on selected information from the newsletter to faculty, staff, and students on their campuses, as appropriate. CDLINFO is also published on the Web at /cdlinfo/

Frequency of publication: Biweekly or as new information warrants.

CDLALERT-L

Purpose: CDLAlert-L is designed to send announcements of system-wide interest to our users, e.g., new access points, database problems, notices for scheduled maintenance, access problems, etc. Only CDL staff are allowed to post to CDLAlert-L.

The following lists may be of interest to many Resource liaisons:

If your Resource is a multi-disciplinary database or an e-journal vendor, you should sign up for this list.

GENRES-L

Purpose: The GENRES-L list is designed to collect and disseminate information about multi-disciplinary databases, e.g., Web of Science, WorldCat, Current Contents, etc., and as a mechanism for recruiting testers from a wide variety of library staff. Items about general resources that are appropriate for CDLAlert and CDLINFO will continue to appear as usual. The list is owned by Holly Eggleston.

We encourage all those interested in instruction issues related to digital resources to join the listserv.

DLINSTRUCT-L

Purpose: DLINSTRUCT-L is an open, unmoderated list valuable for staff from all campuses to discuss best practices, opportunities for collaboration, production of shareable materials, and other instruction issues. The list is owned by Jayne Dickson.

RESOURCE-L

Purpose: The RESOURCE-L list is designed to be the primary conduit for sharing information and promoting discussion on issues pertaining to all Resource liaisons. All RLs may post and read messages on this list.

Eligible subscribers: Resource liaisons

To subscribe: CDL staff maintains list. No open subscription. When you become a Resource Liaison, CDL will add you to this list. The list is owned by Holly Eggleston.

To unsubscribe: When your term ends, CDL staff will remove you from this list.

Platform / Vendor Specific Listservs:

Purpose: The Platform/Vendor Listservs are designed to be the primary conduit for sharing information about among the associated Resource Liaisons that is not suitable for the greater Resource-L list. All RLs for these resources may post and read messages on this list.

Eligible subscribers: Resource liaisons for resources on the specific platform.

To subscribe: CDL staff maintains list. No open subscription. When you become a Resource Liaison for a resource the CDL staff will add you to these lists as needed. The RL Platform / Vendor lists are owned by Holly Eggleston.

To unsubscribe: When your term ends, CDL staff will remove you from these lists.
