Newsbank Access World News Upgraded
With the recent renewal of Access World News, all of the UC campuses now have systemwide access to an upgraded version of the collection: Access World News Research Collection 2022 Edition. The UC campuses also retain access to the existing subscription package: Acceda Noticias, the Spanish language titles.
Previously, the UC system subscribed to a legacy version of Access World News (AWN I+) that Newsbank is now sunsetting. With this change, CDL and Newsbank worked together to bring our users a newer and more comprehensive version of Access World News. Highlights about Access World News Research Collection 2022 include:
- Over 13,000 sources from around the world, approximately 250 of which are image sources
- Print and online-only newspapers, blogs, newswires, journals, broadcast transcripts and videos in text and full-color image formats
- Coverage from the 1980s to current and updated daily
- Research current events, see how an issue evolved over time, and compare global and national perspectives on an issue
All of the California titles the UCs previously subscribed to as an additional custom package with Newsbank are included in the AWN Research Collection 2022 package as well (500+ CA titles). Users still enjoy access to the Acceda Noticias collection as well with no change to this package (approximately 250 Spanish language titles).
New content for the upgraded package is accessible through your library catalog.
Reminders about Newsbank URLs:
