New Resource: CEUP East Meets West

Nine UC campuses are now supporting the Opening the Future ebook collection CEUP: East Meets West, for a three year commitment (2025-2027).  From the Central European University Press (CEU Press), the East Meets West collection is a new package offered this year, and includes approximately 50 titles (view the title list here). The collection spans a range of topics related to the history of Russia, covering tsarist era through the communist era, and recent political upheavals.

Access to these books for the nine supporting UC campuses (all except UC San Francisco) is found at the Project Muse platform:  https://muse.jhu.edu/

This funding support builds off of the initial three-year membership for Opening the Future: CEU Press from 2022-2024, in which the UC campuses supported different CEU Press subject packages across the system.

Additionally, the UC system is continuing a second three-year membership in support of the Opening the Future: Liverpool University Press package Modern Languages Package (access at Liverpool University Press)

The Opening the Future (OtF) program membership provides funding support for smaller publishers to publish new titles as open access.  Funding libraries subscribe for access to a backfile ebook collection, and after three years of support for a collection, funding members receive perpetual access to the backfile collection. The Presses then use these subscription costs to fund the publishing of new open access books.
