New Japanese Resource: Dai Kanwa Jiten
The Tier 2 for UC’s JapanKnowledge subscription package has added a new add-on product to the subscription called Dai Kanwa Jiten 大漢和辞典, also known as The Great Chinese-Japanese Character Dictionary, which is accessible to all UC users.
This resource includes conducting either a single Kanji search or a vocabulary search, as well as searching and sorting by radical stroke count, total strokes, and more. The database contains over 51,000 single characters and over 376,000 searchable vocabulary terms. The Dai Kanwa Jiten has been used by many research institutions and scholars, and covers vocabulary from every major historical period, as well as from a wide range of subjects including Buddhist scripture, medicine and pharmacognosy, law, topography, and even Chinese poetry written in Japan.
This is the third add-on to the main JapanKnowledge Library subscription package, which includes the base package, plus the add-ons for Kokushi Daijiten, Shinpen Kokka Taikan, and now Dai Kanwa Jiten. The components of this package are subscription-based and do not include perpetual access. UCs have also purchased many additional resources on the JapanKnowledge platform separately.
Access to this resource is found on the JapanKnowlege platform at: https://japanknowledge.com/lib/search/daikanwa/
