Resource Change: World Scholar Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2023, World Scholar Latin America and the Caribbean (via Gale) changed its name to Archives of Latin American and Caribbean History, Sixteenth to Twentieth Century.
CDL owns the historical archive version of this product, with access for all 10 campuses. Gale no longer offers subscriptions to the “Portal” version, which some campuses may have also had locally.
Along with a name change, the platform was also upgraded. According to Gale, there are no changes to the historical archive content itself on the platform. The materials have been arranged into 37 thematic collections on the platform. Enhancements to the new interface include:
- Enhanced image viewer
- View and download OCR, screenreader optimized
- Navigational consistency
- Improved accessibility
- Browse by Collection
- Integrated Workflow tools
- Citations, Zotero compatibility
- Download and permalink to content
- Topic Finder tool
- Term Frequency tool
- Cross-searchable in Gale Primary Sources
- Compatible with Gale Digital Scholar Lab
The old URL redirects to the new interface seamlessly. The new URL is: https://go.gale.com/ps/start.do?p=LACH
