Oxford Research Encyclopedias Move to Oxford Academic
Oxford Research Encyclopedias (OREs) have now moved to the Oxford Academic platform! As of March 26, 2026 all URLs redirect to content at the new platform. The UCs own systemwide access to 24 ORE modules, covering a variety of subjects. Accessing the Oxford Research Encyclopedias on the Oxford Academic platform will ensure they are cross-searchable with other Oxford materials. The OREs provide comprehensive overviews of academic subjects written by leading experts in their fields.
The new Oxford Research Encyclopedias homepage can be found at Oxford Academic: https://academic.oup.com/oxford-research-encyclopedias
To find the homepage URL of a specific Encyclopedia (purchased module), navigate to Encyclopedias > subject name. For example, the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of African History is located at: https://academic.oup.com/edited-volume/61663
Users can navigate back to the ORE homepage by clicking on the Collection: Oxford Research Encyclopedias link in the light blue box on each Encyclopedia page.

A full list of the new URLs for specific ORE modules can also be found at this page from Oxford.
The difference between browsing the “Encyclopedias” content in the navigation bar and the “Subject” content in the navigation bar is that searching in subjects will pull together all material from all OREs matching that subject matter, including articles from beyond any specific ORE module geared toward that subject. Using the “Encyclopedia” page gives users content specific to that ORE.
