Highlights on Cataloging OA resources:

  • International Monetary Fund eLibrary: Requested by a UCLA cataloger. This database contains the backfiles of the International Monetary Fund from 1946 up to the present (with current two years embargoed) . SCP has activated the CZ collection at the database level, and provide CDI access to individual titles within the collection (Collection ID: 61562195490006531; MMS ID: 9912355576106531)
  • Russian Independent Media Archive (RIMA): Requested by a UCB selector. Independent Russian media archived from the year 2000 through the present day. The archive currently holds 45 media outlets, with more titles to be added soon. No CZ record for the collection. SCP has created a local collection at the database level (Collection ID: 61561866440006531; MMS ID: 9920688580106531)

Highlights on Other Activities:

  • UC Libraries endorsed the Joint Statement on the Metadata Rights of Libraries. SCP, along with colleagues at the CDL, strongly support the endorsement of the statement. Please read CDLINFO full article for details.
  • CDL GOBI Tech Spec: has been updated to include CDL newly licensed Duke eBooks via De Gruyter.

  • Access restored to CNKI resources: After about a year suspension due to a Chinese government audit of CNKI’s platform, access to several CDL-managed resources has restored: They are: China Doctoral Dissertations and Masters’ Theses Full-text Database (CDMD), National Population Census of China (NPCC), China Statistical Yearbooks (CSYD). The temporary access to China Yearbooks (CYFD) ended on April 30, 2024. Additionally, 22 titles have been added to NPCC 2010 census data. Cataloging of the 2020 Census data is in progress. Thanks to Sherry Lochhaas and Bie-hwa Ma who have been working really hard to test, clarify and resolve any access issues. Please read CDLINFO full article for details.
  • CDL PID Server Update: Lam Pham, Software Engineer at CDL, has made substantial modernizations to the PID server code, which was more than a decade old. While these changes may not be noticeable to the users, they significantly improve the service’s stability and maintainability. The core features remain unchanged, with enhancements such as URL validation during PID creation and editing, addition of a timeout for URL verification, updating of the reset password system, and improved feasibility of batch searching large amounts of data. The feature of generating invalid URL reports has been deprecated. With testing and feedback from SCP and UCSD colleagues, the new PID Service is live on uclibs.org and related sites (such as purl.uclibs.org).
