SCP Overview
Monthly Updates
The following chart and table show the overall SCP cataloging activities and workload in February. There are more serials added this month, also the bulk of brief records of Dacheng online journals have been contributed to and replaced by OCLC records. A new tier 2 collection, non-DDA titles, created: Maruzen eBook Library online monographs. Reference. See CDLINFO article for more details. SCP would like to acknowledge and appreciate that Naomi Shiraishi, Japanese cataloging librarian of UC Berkeley C.V. Starr East Asian Library, generously provided cataloging for titles of the initial purchase and will continue to catalog titles of future acquisitions of this collection.
On SILS project, SCP & MARCIVE records migrated to CDL NZ were delivered on February 12. Kate Garvey-Clasby has reviewed them based on ILSDC checklist, and data so far seems to have migrated as expected, except missing 1014 bib records which was a result of multi-match. Kate plans to update these records after SCP’s last weekly file distribution (date TBD). SCP also discussed and provided a list of action items for the SILS Policy & Practice Coordinators (PPC)’ Minimal Viable Product (MVP) document which are mostly related to post go-alive data review and cleanup.
With SILS project, SCP staff anticipate dramatic changes in cataloging operations and will devote significant time to test and develop workflows during the Test Load period. As a result, there will be a delay in providing catalog records for many eBook collections (whose cataloging frequency are less than monthly) for approximately two quarterly cycles, March-July 2021. During this interim period, all access will be available on content platforms. Post-migration, all content will be made available on Alma/Primo VE via SFX/360 and partial SCP data migration. For a list of eBook collections whose cataloging will be suspended during this interim period, see CDLINFO article. A special note about serials (including individual OA Journal request) and Chinese e-resources (books and serials): these may have some delay but will not stop until SCP’s last weekly file distribution. SCP will continue to accept cataloging requests for new collections, but will hold off reviewing and making recommendation to JSC and UC CKGs until post-migration. We appreciate your understanding and support.

Cataloging Note
Routine cataloging by SCP may be delayed due to the migration to SILS, cataloging of new acquisitions, and reduced capacity due to the COVID-19 work from home recommendation. Serials Cataloging Transition Phase II
As Monday, November 23, 2020, SCP completed switching all non-Chinese print serials to online records. As a result, only 600+ Chinese titles (about 1.4% of the project) remain to be manually switched. For the details about processing, please see CDLINFO article and Phase II FAQ page.

- Cataloging Delays (if more than three months): A title might have been missed on the vendor title list, UC-eLinks (SFX) might have not yet been activated, OCLC record might have not been available yet, to name a few things that cause cataloging delays. It usually takes about two-three months for OCLC records to become available or for items to become available for SFX activation when new titles are added to an existing collection.
- Cataloging Errors: Please include the OCLC Number (preferred), ISSN, or ISBN in the ‘Record Locator’ section of the form.
