SCP Update – December 2020
For the detailed list of net increase or decrease of titles from CDL licensed and selected open access collections, see the distribution statistics report for November 2020.
SCP Overview
Monthly Updates
The following chart and table show the overall SCP cataloging activities and workload in November. Through the CDL Helpline report, a complicated access issue with Sage Research Method package was identified that affected nearly 2,000 records. Donal O’Sullivan had spent a significant amount of time to identify, match and replace problem URLs with the corrected URLs.
On the SILS project, Kate Garvey-Clasby has started to extract and prepare CDL/SCP migration files in November. As some of you may know that to prevent from creating duplications of CDL SFX and SCP data in Alma Network Zone, CDL/SCP data were migrated into a siloed CDL Institution Zone during the Vanguard test period. Through Vanguard evaluation, CDL/SCP was able to identify nearly 487,000 bibliographic records (about 42% of SCP migratable data) that do not overlap with CDL SFX/360 ERM data. Thus, we were able to get Ex Libris approval for test load and cutover load to migrate this subset directly to the Alma Network Zone and the rest will continue to migrate to the siloed CDL Institution Zone. For details about the decision on CDL SFX and SCP data, please click here. In addition, SCP also worked with UCSD to extract and prepare UCSD’s copy of MARCIVE bibliographic records to migrate to the Alma Network Zone for test load and cutover load. The SILS Resource Management Functional Group will evaluate and test MARCIVE monthly load and maintenance in Network Zone during test load. For details about the decision on MARCIVE during test load, please click here.

Cataloging Note
Routine cataloging by SCP may be delayed due to the migration to SILS, cataloging of new acquisitions, and reduced capacity due to the COVID-19 work from home recommendation. If a package is delayed over three months, or you have concerns regarding access to CDL content, please report to the CDL Helpline. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
As Christmas holiday season is approaching, the last SCP file distribution for year 2020 will be December 14th. SCP will resume file distribution on January 4th, 2021.
SCP staff wish everyone Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2021, stay safe and healthy!

CDL Helpline
Please report to CDL Helpline on
- Cataloging Delays (if more than three months): A title might have been missed on the vendor title list, UC-eLinks (SFX) might have not yet been activated, OCLC record might have not been available yet, to name a few things that cause cataloging delays. It usually takes about two-three months for OCLC records to become available or for items to become available for SFX activation when new titles are added to an existing collection.
- Cataloging Errors: Please include the OCLC Number (preferred), ISSN, or ISBN in the ‘Record Locator’ section of the form.
