SCP Monthly Update — April 2019

SCP has posted the distribution statistics report for the month of March 2019. This monthly report shows net increase or decrease of titles from CDL licensed and selected open access collections. For serials, we distributed a new collection of Lyell Collection online journals (9 titles). Other major distributions were EBSCO journals (16 titles), IEEE Xplore online journals (15 titles), Morgan & Claypool online journals (25 titles), Open Access journals (339 titles, including DOAJ 288 titles, PubMed Central 13 titles, and Taylor & Francis 15 titles). There were also 82 titles of Open Access journals removed.

For monographs, we distributed a new collection of Lyell monographs (542 titles, including Engineering geology special publications online monographs 23 titles, Memoir (Geological Society of London) online monographs 48 titles, and Special publication of the Geological Society of London online monographs 466 titles). Lyell Collection is an online collection comprising the Geological Society of London’s journal titles, Special Publication Ebooks, and unique content (memoirs) relevant to active earth science programs. Other major record distributions were: ACM conference proceedings (49 titles), ACS Symposium series online monographs (35 titles), Cambridge online monographs (131 titles), Elsevier monographs (122 titles in 14 subsets), IEEE online monographs (154 titles, including IEEE Xplore online conference proceedings 152 titles), JSTOR monographs (542 titles), Knovel Library online monographs (106 titles), MIT online monographs (11 titles), Morgan & Claypool monographs (16 titles, including Synthesis Collection 8 15 titles), ScienceDirect online journals. Methods in enzymology online monographs (80 titles), SIAM online monographs (8 titles), SPIE eBooks online monographs (19 titles), and SpringerLink monographs (681 titles, including Computer science 99 titles, Earth and environmental science 65 titles, Engineering 65 titles, Medicine 70 titles, and titles in 16 other subsets) and Airiti monographs (102 titles).

DDA Programs: DDA programs with numbers changed as of today, April 3, 2019: Airiti DDA (3,350 discovery records + 663 purchased titles), JSTOR CDL DDA pilot (5,883 discovery records + 1,097 purchased titles). DDA Programs with no change: CNPeReading CDL DDA online monographs (4,189 discovery records + 132 purchased titles), CRC Press ENGnetBASE online monographs 406 purchased titles (2013 package (105 titles), 2014 package (64 titles), 2015 package (133 titles), and 2016 package (104 titles)), EBSCO Japanese DDA 466 purchased titles, and YBP/Ebrary online monographs via ProQuest 665 purchased titles.

Note on SCP serials cataloging: Starting April 1st, SCP will catalog new serial titles using online format MARC records and cease the practice of using print format MARC records. The latter consisted of adding URL links to print records. This essentially acted as a composite record for both print and online versions. The change will happen in two phases. For Phase I, SCP new serial titles, records will start being distributed on Monday, April 8, 2019. Where there are changes to be made to existing records (e.g., coverage changes) SCP will continue to use the print version record. The start date for Phase II, retrospective changes for existing titles on print records has not been set yet. SCP will announce this before Phase II starts. Note on SCP web pages: As part of the CDL website migration, SCP web pages are in a soft freeze period; all updates are sent to CDL website team, so there will be some delay on keeping current with the E-Resource Tracking page, record distribution statistics, etc.

Cataloging Delay (if more than three months): A title might have been missed on the vendor title list, UC-eLinks (SFX) might have not yet been activated, OCLC record might have not been available yet, to name a few things that cause cataloging delays. It usually takes about two-three months for OCLC records to become available or for items to become available for SFX activation when new titles are added to an existing collection.
Cataloging Errors: Please include the OCLC Number (preferred), ISSN, or ISBN in the ‘Record Locator’ section of the form.
