Melvyl Central Index Update – Changes for 2014
It’s January 2014, and time for the biannual addition of new databases released by OCLC to Melvyl’s Central Index. As of this January, we are making a minor change to the policy of adding only CDL managed licenses with all 10 campuses participating in the licensing. Historically, databases acquired by nine UC campuses, excluding UCSF, the graduate level health sciences campus, have not been added. Now and moving forward, however, we will incorporate databases that have been acquired by all campuses except UCSF to the Melvyl Central Index.
New databases
The analysis of potential changes to the Melvyl Central Index configuration has been completed. The following databases have been added to Melvyl’s Central Index:
- Adam Matthew Empire Online
- Adam Mathew Everyday Life and Women in America
- Canadian Science Publishing Journals
- EBSCO Middle Search Plus
- EBSCO Primary Search
- Elsevier ScienceDirect
- Gale Virtual Reference Library
- JSTOR Arts & Sciences (A&S) I
- JSTOR A&S II
- JSTOR A&S V
- JSTOR A&S X
- JSTOR Business II
- JSTOR Life Sciences Collection
- S Karger Books
The following databases licensed by all campuses except UCSF have also been added to Melvyl, except to UCSF’s version (http://ucsf.worldcat.org):
- JSTOR A&S III
- JSTOR A&S IV
- JSTOR A&S VI
- JSTOR A&S VII
- JSTOR A&S VIII
- JSTOR A&S IX
- JSTOR Ecology and Botany
And one removed…
The following database has been removed from all campuses since UC did not renew this resource consortially:
- Taylor & Francis (T&F) journals (For more information about why these have been removed, see, http://cdlib.org/2013/07/03/uc-libraries-discontinue-taylor-francis-systemwide-journals-license/)
The next round of changes will occur in July 2014.
