DataUp Honored with NDSA Innovation Award

CDL is pleased to announce that the DataUp project has been chosen as a National Digital Stewardship Alliance (NDSA) Innovation Award recipient in the “project” category.  The Annual Innovation Awards were established by NDSA to recognize and encourage innovation in the field of digital preservation stewardship. These awards highlight and commend creative individuals, projects, organizations, and future stewards demonstrating originality and excellence in their contributions to the field of digital preservation.   The Project category recognizes projects whose goals or outcomes represent an inventive, meaningful addition to the understanding or processes required for successful, sustainable digital preservation stewardship.

DataUp is run through the University of California Curation Center (UC3) at the California Digital Library. UC3 members working on DataUp include Carly Strasser, Trisha Cruse, John Kunze, and Stephen Abrams.

Funders for the project are the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and Microsoft Research Connections. The resulting tools from the DataUp project are part of the Investigator Toolkit for DataONE, an NSF DataNet project building cyber-infrastructure that links together existing archives of ecological and environmental scientific data. The Outercurve Foundation holds the code’s copyright and DataUp is part of their Research Accelerators Gallery.
