UC3 Dash Service Update: Jan-Feb 2015
The UC3 Dash (https://dash.ucop.edu) service provides an easy-to-use solution for the effective curation of and access to research data. Dash is a centralized UC3-hosted service, with UC campus and DataONE branded instances.
Recent Enhancements, News, and Activities
- UCI Dash offers geographic access. We partnered with UC Irvine to develop a map feature using geographic coordinates in the DataCite metadata. This feature is only available in the UC Irvine Dash instance. Currently, there are no datasets with geographic metadata in production yet, but you can see the functionality in action on the stage server: http://dash-stg.lib.uci.edu. We are evaluating implementing this feature more broadly. Please let us know if you have any plans for geographic metadata.
- “Dash2” started. We have begun work on the project funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation grant, now (cleverly) known as “Dash2” (learn more about the grant). Our developers have begun evaluating several new (to us) technologies: Hydra, Blacklight and Sufia and have created a code repository for their work: https://github.com/CDLUC3/dash2. We are also developing the UI requirements.
- Larger objects fix. We discovered a problem with one of our software libraries with objects larger than 4GB. We updated the software library and have fixed the problem.
