Wiley Online Library moves to Atypon Literatum platform
On March 17-18, 2018, the Wiley Online Library will be migrating to a new platform, Atypon Literatum.
According to Wiley’s transition FAQ, the new platform is more intuitive, makes Wiley’s content more discoverable, and provides users with an improved experience in searching, browsing and reading online content.
The top level Wiley Online Library domain will remain the same, but uses a secure URL (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/). Society partners such as AGU and Anthrosource will use the same platform, but will have a subdomain prefixing the main Wiley URL.
Title level and article level links will change with this migration. Redirects will be put in place, but all bookmarks and links should be updated after the migration to avoid any interruption of access. SCP will update direct links in the catalog as needed.
Additional changes happening during this migration include:
Current Protocols: Current Protocols are now being classified as journals on Wiley Online Library. The URL structure will change and these titles will favor ISSNs over the traditional ISBN.
Databases: Additionally, three products (previously databases) will be reclassified as “reference work” product types:
- e-EROS – Encyclopaedia of Reagents for Organic Synthesis
- Organic Synthesis (not subscribed systemwide)
- Wiley Database of Polymer Properties (not subscribed systemwide)
User Features
Users’ eTOC and citation alert settings will be migrated to the new platform. Saved search alerts and article “favorites” will not be migrated. Notices have been sent by Wiley to personal account holders.
Not included in this weekend’s migration, but happening soon:
Blackwell Reference Online – Blackwell Reference Online (BRO) titles will be migrating to the new Wiley Online Library platform. They were previously hosted on a different platform. “Wiley will be dual-hosting this content for 6 months to ensure that access is not interrupted for BRO customers. We hope that having as much of our content hosted on Wiley Online Library will make the experience more seamless for end users browsing between content.” There is no solid date for availability on the new platform, but these titles will bepresent as close to the platform migration as possible.
Cochrane Library – The Cochrane Library will soon be hosted on a new, separate platform. The move is also planned for 2018; however, it will be after the main Wiley Online Library migration. Initially, the yearly Cochrane usage reports will be available via the old Wiley Online Library administration interface. The longer-term plan is to make Cochrane reports available via the new platform’s Institutional Administration interface, so that all reports can be retrieved from the same interface.
