SpringerProtocols.com content transitions on July 25

On Wednesday, July 25th 2018, the SpringerProtocols.com platform will be deactivated.

SpringerProtocols content is being concurrently-hosted on SpringerLink and is searchable on the new research platform, Springer Nature Experiments (http://uclibs.org/PID/127001), an interface specially designed and optimized for searching protocols and methods.

After July 25th:

  • SpringerProtocols content will be searchable via Springer Nature Experiments and available on the SpringerLink (https://link.springer.com/) platform.
  • The top level Springer Protocols PID (http://uclibs.org/PID/127001) will point to Springer Nature Experiments.
  • Links to SpringerProtocols title content (currently redirecting to the Springer Nature Experiments home page) will redirect to the SpringerLink platform after the SCP record distribution on July 30th.

According to Springer Nature, Springer Nature Experiments has been designed to help users/researchers find and evaluate relevant protocols and methods across the whole Springer Nature protocols and methods portfolio (SpringerProtocols, Nature Methods, Nature Protocols and Protocols Exchange). Please note that the actual SpringerProtocols content is hosted on SpringerLink for integrated search with Springer journals and eBooks. Springer Nature Experiments itself does not host any full-text content.

The new research platform Springer Nature Experiments comes with several user benefits, including:

  • Easier search and browsing experience
  • Increased search results relevance with subject-specific focus (e.g., lab techniques and model organisms recognition in the articles text)
  • At-a-glance article evaluation with key metrics and information (downloads, citations, etc.)
  • Added ability to search across the entire Springer Nature protocols and methods portfolio (SpringerProtocols, Nature Methods, Nature Protocols and Protocols Exchange)

Michele Potter (UCR) is the Resource Liaison for Springer platform content and Springer Nature Experiments.
