Introducing Nancy Hoebelheinrich — DPLA Project Coordinator

Please join us in welcoming Nancy Hoebelheinrich to the CDL, as the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) Project Coordinator.  As part of a 9-month project (June 2014-February 2015) funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and DPLA, Nancy will play a significant role in helping to launch the CDL — in collaboration with the ten-campus University of California Libraries system — as a DPLA Content Hub.

In its role as DPLA Content Hub, CDL will be sharing metadata records from Calisphere, a website with approximately 250,000 digital primary source objects contributed by libraries, archives, and museums across the state. Additionally, CDL will be exploring new avenues for harvesting and aggregating metadata records hosted outside of the Calisphere platform and sharing those records with DPLA.

Nancy will be conducting outreach with Calisphere contributors on sharing metadata records with DPLA. She will also be involved in developing and refining our harvesting infrastructure. Nancy will be situated within the Digital Special Collections team, within CDL’s Access & Publishing Group.

In addition to her work at CDL, Nancy is the principal of Knowledge Motifs, LLC, an independent consulting group. She has previous and extensive experience working at the Stanford University Libraries, as Metadata Librarian/Coordinator. She brings to CDL a wealth of expertise on creating, managing, publishing, and preserving digital resources — working within a range of library contexts and with an array of users. She has longstanding interests in metadata standards and protocols, from METS and PREMIS to geo-spatial data. We’re delighted to have her onboard!
