Deselection Deep Dives Recap and Roundup

The WEST Executive Committee and Operations and Collections Council members requested that the Project Team explore ways to showcase members’ specific journal review stories, as a way to highlight how members are employing WEST in managing their collections, and hopefully inspire others to make the most of their membership in WEST. The goal was that by creating a platform to share this information widely, we could create points of reference that support individual libraries in presenting deselection projects as more than just recycling print collections; rather, as strategically reorganizing print collections within an ecosystem of trusted partner libraries.

To this end, the WEST Project Team collaborated with 4 WEST member institutions over the past eight months to create a series of Deselection Deep Dives, aimed at presenting the “What, So What, and Now What” of member’s deselection projects. Here’s a roundup of all of the Deselection Deep Dives we published this year for easy reference:

It’s been a pleasure working with members of the WEST community on these and we are so grateful for your generosity in sharing your stories. I’m excited to see what we accomplish together next!
