Shared Print Roundup: Q1 2025
Even though we’re only three months into 2025, there have already been many exciting updates, webinars, and articles from community members across shared print! Below is a roundup of shared print news and events from January and February, and registration information for an upcoming event in March.
In January, shared print news kicked off at the Print Archive Network (PAN) Midwinter Forum on Friday, January 24th, where we heard a variety of updates about work happening both at the regional and bi-national levels, and enjoyed several presentations, including a presentation from CDL’s own Alison Wohlers. The presentations and a brief takeaway are included below. Click the title of each presentation to view the complete slide deck:

In February, NISO’s Collaborative Collections Lifecycle Project (CCLP) held a webinar to update the community and provide information on the current progress of the Collaborative Collections Lifecycle Infrastructure Project (CCLIP) and the progress of its working groups. The slides from the presenters as well as the video recording are available on the event page on the NISO website.
Throughout the first quarter of 2025, the CDL, CRL, and HathiTrust (CCH) Collaboration for Shared Print has been hosting a series of mini summits in 2025 centered on Shared Print and Sustainability. The first two, Importance of Shared Print Sustainability – Setting the Stage and Establishing the Problem Space were held in January and February respectively, and the third will be held on March 13th at 12:00pm PST. You can access the recording, transcript, and public notes for the first two webinars in this folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1G0ast4srFnvtYpJZZHmBNrAn0nUz2Qtq.
And there’s still time to register for the third mini-summit, Aligning Sustainability with Strategy, here: https://umich.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJArcuGvpjguHtdtul8dZEBH3rOC771VJiUH
And, in addition to the presentations and webinars listed above, Against the Grain published a recent article by Miranda Bennett (Director of Shared Collections at CDL), Why Purchase Print if the eBook is OA?: A Librarian’s Perspective, which mentions shared print explicitly and resonates strongly with the work that we all do in the shared print community.
Finally, OCLC research division recently posted an update which we believe will be of interest to our shared print community: OCLC Research: evolving for greater impact. We’re excited to see what this evolution will mean as OCLC research has played an important role in collective collections, and we hope that they will continue to do so with this strategic shift!
