CDL Job Posting: Publications Manager

The California Digital Library (CDL) at the University of California is currently seeking candidates for a new Publications Manager position. The successful candidate will join a CDL team that collaborates closely with scholarly communication librarians and researchers across the 10-campus UC system to support eScholarship, a well-established and thriving open-access publishing and repository program. The new Publications Manager will coordinate support, training, and consultation services for our publishing and repository clients, triaging support requests that are at times technical in nature. A deep familiarity with trends in scholarly communication, open access, and publishing will be critical for this position — as will a familiarity with technical platforms used to support these activities (e.g. Open Journals Systems (OJS), Janeway, D-Space, Digital Commons).

In addition to directly supporting publishing clients and campus partners, the Publications Manager will work closely with two additional publications managers to develop and refine eScholarship’s robust journal publishing program, spanning a broad range of disciplines, as well as growing our institutional repository and preprints services. The incumbent will also be a key participant in strategic planning discussions that drive the future of eScholarship.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge of journal and repository management best practices
  • Familiarity with journal and repository management software
  • Enthusiasm for open-access library publishing and archiving, as well as open-source software
  • Experience providing technical and consultative support to end users
  • Strong outreach and communication skills

CDL welcomes and encourages diversity and seeks applications from individuals from underrepresented groups. CDL seeks to recruit and retain a diverse workforce as a reflection of our commitment to serve the people of California, to maintain the excellence of the University of California, and to offer our students richly varied disciplines, perspectives, and ways of knowing and learning.

CDL offices are located in downtown Oakland, CA. This position is eligible for on-site, remote or hybrid work arrangements. Applicants must be residents of California, or be willing and able to relocate to California upon hiring.

Salary range is $104,000 – $112,000, commensurate with experience, plus attractive benefits.
The first review date for this job is April 17, 2023. The position will be open until filled.
Applications must be submitted via the UCOP Jobs site.
