Welcome to Steve Diggs

It is my pleasure to announce that Steve Diggs joins California Digital Library (CDL) as the University of California Curation Center (UC3)’s new Senior Product Manager for our data publishing portfolio.  Steve is coming to us from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UCSD where he has served as the Technical Director of the Hydrographic Data Office (CCHDO).

As a skilled data/project manager, Steve has focused his knowledge and expertise on the design and operation of enterprise level information systems that deliver useful data from sensors in the field to the oceanographic research community. In addition to actively managing data, Steve is a member of numerous international marine data and data science teams including the Board on Research Data and Information (BRDI) under The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM).

Along with his deep experience and applying the same to new and ongoing innovations, Steve brings his years working as part of and with the research community in situ and in the lab and understands well the challenges and opportunities they face with managing their data and accessing that which will advance their own work.

Steve arrives in his new role at an exciting time for the growing adoption of and mandated requirements for data sharing and publication around the world. We look forward to his exploring new directions for data publishing and leading the way for UC3, fueled by his passion and drive to make research data discoverable, reusable, and openly available.

Steve and his family make their home in San Diego and with Steve’s arrival, we have another member of the Southern California CDL contingent.  Read more from Steve on the UC3 blog.

Please join in welcoming Steve to CDL!
