CDL Job Opening: Software Engineer

Are you a Python, Java or Ruby programmer?  Are you interested in learning and using machine learning technologies (Tensorflow, PyTorch, etc.)?  Are you an enthusiastic practitioner of software development best practices (agile, continuous integration, test first development, etc.)?  Do you enjoy working in a team environment where your ideas make a difference?  Then come join the California Digital Library’s Discovery and Delivery team.

We are a team of software engineers, librarians and product managers working together to develop innovative library services for the University of California’s libraries and for regional, national and international library consortia.  Our work includes organizing and analyzing metadata for the 16 million+ items in the HathiTrust digital library; analyzing the collections of 50+ libraries; and providing the University of California’s shared library catalog, digital resource access and interlibrary loan services.  In addition, we regularly work on developing innovative new products and services.

This is a great job for a software engineer with a good knowledge of Python, Java or Ruby; a strong interest in machine learning; the ability to build innovative new projects from scratch; an enthusiasm for software development best practices; an enjoyment of agile teamwork; and a desire to provide library patrons with the very best access to information.
