Welcome Esther Verreau, new Senior Software Developer on the PAD team

We are delighted to announce that Esther Verreau has joined the Publishing, Archives, and Digitization group as a Senior Software Developer, starting today, September 20, 2021. As a senior level applications programmer Esther will be part of a team that is responsible for the design and maintenance of a diverse portfolio of web-based applications and services that support the publishing, research, and learning activities of UC faculty, students, staff, and the general public.  Working with product managers, the tech lead, other developers, and campus partners, Esther will lead technical projects to assess and implement external tools and platforms, develop new features for existing services, analyze and fix bugs that occur on production systems, and take ownership of the operations for specific components of our systems. She will report to Brian Tingle.

Esther comes to us from the University of Illinois Chicago, where she was Head of Library Systems.  In this position, she has played a significant role in large-scale technical projects, including repository migrations, a consortial migration to Alma, the development of  django sites and the creation of the XTF-based Explore Chicago Collections resource.  She previously worked as an application developer at Northwestern University and, before that, at the Skokie Public Library in Skokie, IL.  She has an MLIS from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a BS in computer science from University of Michigan Ann Arbor.

Esther has been working in libraries since high school, starting with a small town library in Michigan. She has been a four season cyclist in Chicago for the past 15 years, and this year she made it a family affair by getting a bike trailer for her toddler. Esther has always enjoyed learning about and experiencing other cultures through language, dance, reading and travel.

Please join us in welcoming Esther to the PAD team!
