The ProQuest Historical Newspaper (HNP) http://uclibs.org/PID/241398 and History Vault (HV) http://uclibs.org/PID/431313 pilot plan is available to all ten UC campuses through 4/30/2021 and includes access to the online collections:

  • 52 Historical Newspapers (US and International titles), and
  • 45 History Vault Modules (All modules through 2018)

At the end of this Evidence Based Acquisition pilot (December 31, 2020), UC may elect to purchase perpetual access to databases included in the Historical Newspaper & History Vault collections in December 2020.

Historical Newspapers (HNP) include more than 50 premier stand-alone historical titles dating back to the 1700s and more than 55 million digitized pages, Every issue of each title includes full-page and article images in easily downloadable PDFs. Researchers can study the progression of views, events, people and places over time through these historical newspaper pages, including articles, photos, advertisements, classified ads, obituaries, editorial cartoons and more.

History Vault (HV) provides access to millions of primary source, cross-searchable, full-text/full-image documents on the most widely studied topics in 19th and 20th-century American history. The vast majority of the content in History Vault is not available elsewhere. The content in History Vault is perfect for researchers in history, African American studies, women’s studies, political science, social sciences, sociology, and international studies.

SCP will be distributing cataloging records for the Newspaper titles and HV collections under consideration, as well as for content once it’s purchased. For campuses who have already licensed one or more of these resources and have local cataloging records, please refer to any additional information that will be provided by SCP regarding record handling.
