Welcome to Mahjabeen Yucekul, P&SC’s new Senior Software Engineer
We are excited to have Mahjabeen Yucekul join the Publishing & Special Collections group as our new Senior Software Engineer, starting August 1, 2019. Mahjabeen will be responsible for the technical architecture, operations, and continued evolution of the publication management system in support of the University of California’s open access policies. She brings with her a passion for software development, cross-functional team leadership, and scientific collaboration.
Mahjabeen comes to us from Genentech, where she made life easier for researchers by designing and implementing data integration systems which streamlined data consolidation, visualization, and analysis. In her previous position at Life Technologies, she developed web applications to support medical laboratory quality control, and implemented a patented next generation sequencing application enabling QC pipeline quality tracking and comparison for hundreds of variant calls. And while at Microsoft, she contributed to the Windows CE operating system and Microsoft HealthVault.
Mahjabeen holds a MS in Medical Engineering from the University of Washington, a MS in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota, and a BS in Computer Science and Technologies from the Indian Institute of Technology. Mahjabeen lives with her husband in Oakland. She enjoys cooking, jogging, and playing tennis, competing in USTA league matches as a singles player. She also volunteers at her neighborhood school to share the joy of learning with the next generation.
