Update Delivered at ALA Midwinter 2018 WEST Members Meeting
WEST members met during the February ALA Midwinter Conference in Denver. Over 20 representatives of WEST member institutions were able to attend, including several members of WEST’s Executive Committee and Operations and Collections Council. The WEST Project Team provided updates on WEST’s membership, archiving progress, upcoming collections analysis and systems development processes, and WEST’s participation in the Rosemont Shared Print Alliance.
During the question and answer periods of the updates, WEST members discussed the value of membership, what’s left to archive in the realm of higher risk titles, and how WEST’s future activities might include digitization of higher risk material for which no digital copies are readily available. Discussion also touched on WEST’s participation in the Rosemont Shared Print Alliance and financial sustainability.
Thank you very much to those who were able to attend! If you were unable to attend and would like to review the presentation slides, they are available on the website. Please contact Ivy Anderson, Interim WEST Program Manager, or Alison Wohlers, WEST Operations and Collections Analyst, with questions or comments.
