WEST passes resolution honoring Emily Stambaugh
On November 17, 2017, the WEST Executive Committee passed the following resolution honoring Emily Stambaugh for her many contributions to shared print and the WEST program.
Resolution Honoring Emily Stambaugh
WHEREAS, Emily Stambaugh has served as Shared Print Manager for the California Digital Library since 2006, providing exemplary program management to libraries in the University of California system; and
WHEREAS, in that capacity, Emily Stambaugh made extensive contributions to the formation in 2010 of the Western Regional Storage Trust (WEST)—a distributed print journal repository service among more than 65 research libraries in the western region of the United States—including contributing to the grant proposals to the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation that launched the partnership, developing WEST’s innovative collections model, and serving as Assistant Project Manager; and
WHEREAS, Emily Stambaugh has provided outstanding leadership to WEST as its Program Manager from 2013 to present, during which time she oversaw the archiving of WEST’s 500,000th volume, led a strategic planning process, and successfully transitioned the partnership from grant funding to becoming fully member-supported; and
WHEREAS, Emily’s efforts over the past ten years to foster best practices and collaborative partnerships among shared print programs have contributed extensively to the development of these activities in North America and beyond, culminating in the recent formation of the Rosemont Shared Print Alliance; and
WHEREAS, Emily’s abilities have been recognized by numerous colleagues in shared print programs across the United States and around the world, including HathiTrust, Eastern Academic Storage Trust (EAST}, the Rosemont Shared Print Alliance, OCLC, and others; and
WHEREAS, Emily Stambaugh is now bringing her considerable talents and skills to lead the library at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, whose mission is strengthening the United States’ security through development and application of world-class science and technology to make the world a safer place;
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Executive Committee of the Western Regional Storage Trust offers its heartfelt congratulations and utmost gratitude to Emily Stambaugh for her vision, persistence, and leadership as a prime mover behind the success of this organization and her support for library excellence nationwide.
