Software Developer Opening for the Discovery and Delivery Team
Software developers, analysts and product managers on the CDL’s Discovery and Delivery (D2D) team work collaboratively and creatively to develop and support a wide variety of library services for the University of California’s libraries and for regional and international library consortia. University of California library services include a union catalog; instant access to books and journals; and an interlibrary loan system. Consortial systems include a metadata management system and a collection analysis and decision support system.
Software developers on the D2D team create technical designs, develop software, create enhancements for existing systems and provide systems integration. They also work together to understand new technologies and to determine how these technologies can be used to provide improved library services. To fill this position, we are looking for someone with excellent software development skills, interest in working in a digital library and the ability to work collaboratively. Knowledge of (or interest in) some or all of the following would be a real asset: Java, Ruby, front-end technologies (React, Angular, jQuery, etc.), frameworks (Spring, Rails, etc.), RESTful Web Services, machine learning (TensorFlow, etc.) and software engineering skills (continuous integration, agile, etc.)
