Call for WEST Cycle 3 (2013/14) statistics underway
WEST cycle 3 statistics gathering is well underway! Thank you to everyone who has responded to our call – we greatly appreciate it.
Following each cycle, WEST collects deselection, archiving and lending/borrowing statistics from our members and Archive Holders. These statistics are important for reporting to the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and for assessing the impact of the WEST program.
Currently, for the entire WEST membership, we are collecting statistics on deselection activities between July 2013 and June 2014 (i.e. cycle 3). As this is the second time that WEST has requested these statistics, we are interested in not only reviewing the cycle 3 data on its own, but also comparing it to the cycle 2 data and recent member survey responses.
From Archive Holders, WEST is collecting 2013/14 interlibrary loan activities for WEST archives and totals for cycle 3 archiving completed. From the lending statistics, WEST hopes to be able to compare data collected across cycles to begin to understand use patterns for archive types.
WEST is accepting cycle 3 statistics until Friday, December 05, 2014, and encourages members who haven’t done so already to complete the applicable statistics template (for deselection, archiving and/or lending). If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email or call.
WEST will present an overview of the cycle 2 and 3 deselection, archiving and lending/borrowing statistics at the ALA Midwinter WEST member meeting (which will be from 1:00 to 2:30 pm on Sunday, February 1, 2015 in the Hilton Chicago).
