Merritt Service Update: August 2014
Recent Enhancements, News, and Activities
- SDSC migration. We are migrating content from the UCOP data center to the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC). We’ve migrated about 40,000 objects so far, with another 120,000 left to go. We are migrating content collection by collection, starting with content in dark archives and moving to the public and more active collections. We hope to have this project completed by the end of October 2014.
- We will contact you as we start to migrate your collections. Depending on the size (number and size of files) it should go fairly quickly.
- There are over 1.2 million objects in Merritt, so the majority of our content by far is now at SDSC, and all new submissions and updates go there automatically.
- Replication at UCLA. Once the SDSC migration is finished, we will begin to replicate the content in the UCLA Cloud Storage service. We had originally thought that we would do this replication as part of the SDSC migration, but realized that doing it sequentially would be better. We are currently testing replication on our stage server.
