DMPTool Service Update: November – December 2012

Recent Enhancements, News, and Activities
The UC Curation Center, CDL, in conjunction with the University of Virginia Library, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Library, and the DataONE consortium, was awarded a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to fund development of expanded functionality, training modules, documentation and the creation of an open-source community to sustain the DMPTool in the future. The award is for $590,000 and the grant activity will occur in 2013. The UC3 team will actively consult with the UC libraries on this grant and on the previously announced IMLS grant that aims to develop DMP training resources. We will issue a press release with more details in the coming days, so stay tuned; we are looking forward to your input.

We continue to add large numbers of new users, with over 300 in November and almost 200 in December. There is now a total of almost 4,000 users, and they’ve created over 3,400 plans. Among the UC campuses, there are over 600 UC users, and they’ve created over 500 plans.

We added a new funder in November: the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative (GoMRI). GoMRI offers grants to investigate the impacts of oil, dispersed oil and dispersant on the Gulf of Mexico ecosystems. More about GoMRI and the DMPTool on the blog:
