DMPTool Service Update – August 2012

 

Recent Enhancements, News, and Activities

There were 22 new users from UC campuses in June, bringing the total to 482 UC users. UC users have created 432 data management plans since the service began in Oct 2011. Overall, there are over 2841 users of the DMPTool who’ve created 2448 data management plans.

The DMPTool was awarded the 2012 Larry L. Sautter Golden Award for Innovation in Information Technology at the UC Computing Services Conference 2012 (UCCSC) held at Berkeley on August 5. The Sautter Award honors projects developed by UC faculty and staff, and selected by a committee composed of members of the UC IT Leadership Council. The DMPTool was one of three projects selected this year for the Golden Award. We were awarded a plaque now proudly displayed at CDL. Shibboleth Login:

3 universities configured their Shibboleth identity providers for the DMPTool in June, bringing the total to 62. This includes 7 UC campuses and UCOP, along with 5 CSU campuses, one CSU lab, and Cal Poly. There are participating organizations in 30 states and the District of Columbia; California leads all states with 17 participating organizations. DMPTool Service Description

The Data Management Plan Tool (DMPTool) provides an easy to use interface that:

  • Helps users create ready-to-use data management plans for specific funding agencies
  • Meets funder requirements for data management plans
  • Provides step-by-step instructions and guidance for how to manage data
  • Provides information about resources and services available at your institution to help fulfill the data management requirements of your grant
