Staff Transition at the Web Archiving Service

To: Web Archiving Service Users and Community
From: Tracy Seneca, Web Archiving Service Manager

I’m writing to announce that in early August I will be moving on to an exciting new opportunity as the Digital Services Librarian at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

It’s most important to convey that the California Digital Library is dedicated to making sure that this is a smooth transition for Web Archiving Service (http://was.cdlib.org/) users.  I will still facilitate the upcoming WAS Users Group at the Society of American Archivists on August 10th, and I will still lead WAS workshops on August 13 and 14 at the UCLA and UC Irvine campuses. Existing members of the WAS support team and additional CDL staff will join those sessions to expand expertise and training for the service.

You can continue to reach our WAS support team by using the “Contact WAS” link on any WAS screen, or by sending email to washelp@ucop.edu. Whether you have specific questions about a capture or general questions about the service, members of our WAS support team will respond.  If you have questions about personnel changes please contact Trisha Cruse patricia.cruse@ucop.edu

It has been an incredible honor to work with the talented staff at CDL, to become part of the international web archiving community, and to work with the many partner organizations affiliated with WAS.  I’m very proud of the work that CDL has done to make the Web Archiving Service such an outstanding resource for librarians and archivists. And I’m very appreciative of the input that our WAS curators from so many organizations have provided every step of the way to help make the service what it is.

It’s amazing how much the web has changed in these last eight years… how much more a part of our lives it has become and how strongly it influences world events. The work that WAS curators are doing is more important than ever!

Best regards,
Tracy Seneca
