Recent Enhancements, News, and Activities

The DMPTool has been awarded the Larry L. Sautter Golden Award for Innovation in Information Technology in 2012. The Sautter Awards were established by the University of California’s Information Technology Leadership Council in 2000 and awarded annually to “encourage and recognize innovative deployment of information technology in support of the University’s mission.” The award recognizes projects across the University of California that are innovative, interoperable, collaborative, usable, accessible and that promote efficiency. The DMPTool is one of five projects to win the award this year. A ceremony to present the award will be held at the UC Computer Services Conference at Berkeley in August. More information on the Sautter Award can be found at its website: (http://www.ucop.edu/irc/itlc/sautter/).

There were 26 new users from UC campuses in June, bringing the total to 448 UC users. They’ve created 366 data management plans. Overall, there are over 2300 users of the DMPTool who’ve created almost 1900 data management plans.

The DMPTool Steering committee, with members at CDL, UCLA, UCSD, University of Virginia, University of Illinois, Smithsonian and DataONE, continues to work on ideas for governance, sustainability and new functionality. We are now planning a meeting in Charlottesville VA in July to discuss governance and sustainability.
