Shared Cataloging Program (SCP) Monthly Update – August 2011

By Adolfo Tarango, Head, Systemwide Collection Services

The Shared Cataloging Program (SCP) provides catalog records for the University of California campus libraries.  Established in January 2000, the program is based at UC San Diego.  To learn more about SCP, see http://www.cdlib.org/services/collections/scp/index.html.

As indicated in last month’s update, SCP began distributing records for Early American Imprints Series II (Shaw-Shoemaker) titles (approx. 38,000 total records) and some 22,500 were sent in July. While access to EAI 2 has existed via a database record for several years now, these new records provide a significant new avenue of access via the title level record. The remaining records for the set will be distributed this month.

Major record additions to existing monographic packages include Springer (445), Wiley (239), SuperStar (202), IEEE (192), Encyclopedia of Taiwan (98), and Apabi (87).  Additions to EBSCO (88), Taylor & Francis (42), and Open access (59) represent the major serial updates for July.
