Web Archiving Workflows: Open Discussion Fri Nov 5th
Web Conference: Friday Nov 5th: 10:00-11:30am pacific
Web archiving is a new frontier for libraries, and we’ve noticed that different organizations using the Web Archiving Service have taken a range of approaches to managing that work. Now that many of you have established your own workflows for using WAS, we’d like to offer a forum for curators to share their strategies with one another.
Curators from UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, the University of Michigan and NYU will briefly describe their Web archiving practices. We certainly anticipate that many more curators will have workflow tips and ideas to contribute, so we have allotted ample time for open discussion. CDL will also share our experience using Delicious to accept site nominations for the Oil Spill archive. The WAS support team will be listening as well to learn more about how WAS can better support your work.
The kinds of issues we will address:
– The role of the student worker
– Do you have many web archivists or one specialist taking nominations?
– Which tasks take the most time?
– How does your organization approve and plan new archives?
We invite you to participate and look forward to the discussion!
