Welcome to Behind the Scenes!
This is a new blog-within-a-blog, by me, Joan Starr, CDL’s Manager of Strategic and Project Planning. I chose my tagline, ‘Behind the Scenes,’ because, as a CDL Service Manager, I operate a little bit out of the limelight. At the same time, I’ve had the chance to do lots of different things here at CDL. So, I’ll be writing about a wide range of topics. Here are some examples of what I have in mind: how CDL’s Twitter account was born, how (and what) you might want to borrow from the Agile bag of tricks to motivate any project team, how CDL’s new Value statement was created, how to work with a technical project lead if you’re not technical (and vice versa), and using webcams for virtual meetings. If there are other topics you’d like to see, post a comment and let me know.
As you may have read on my staff profile , I am currently chairing the SOPAG Task Force on Project Management Skills, and we have just sent out a survey to University of California library staff members with various levels of project management experience. I’d like to see if I can use this space to foster discussion of project management topics within the University of California library community (and beyond?), so I will be enabling the commenting feature on all my posts. If you read something you disagree (or agree) with, have questions about, or want to add to, please do post a comment!
One last note:
I’ll be posting new updates about once a week. You can get notified about updates and lots more by following me on Twitter (@joan_starr). You can get all the CDL news by following CDL on Twitter (@caldiglib) or by going here and clicking on “Subscribe” to sign up for the monthly email. Or click on the “RSS” link for the RSS feed.
