Brian Warling Joins the CDL as Web Design Coordinator
The CDL is pleased to announce that Brian Warling is joining the staff on June 15 as the Design Coordinator for the CDL, reporting to Laine Farley, Assistant Director, System Services. He will lead in the development of the CDL web site, which is designed to facilitate access to digital library services and collections and to communicate the mission of the CDL to the UC community and the general public. The site will integrate information resources and retrieval systems, knowledge management services, and documents related to CDL planning efforts, projects, tools, and information to assist library staff.
Brian comes to the CDL with extensive experience in the development and management of web sites, and in the design of educational and instructional materials and programs. Most recently, he was the Manager of Digital Library Operations at the UC San Francisco Library and Center for Knowledge Management, where he was responsible for maintaining and expanding GALEN II, the UCSF digital library. Previously he served as Personal Information Management Specialist for Clinical Programs at UCSF, providing education and information management consulting services for UCSF faculty, staff, and students. He has also served as End-User Search Services Coordinator in the Biomedical Library at UCLA, developing instructional programs and materials involving electronic resources, and as a science librarian at Occidental College in Los Angeles. In addition, he has participated in the National Library of Medicine Associates Program for library and information science graduates interested in the health sciences.
Brian holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from UCLA and an M.L.S. from the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, UCLA. He has written numerous articles on information management for national publications.
