CDL Staff News: New Staff Members
Please join us in welcoming these three new CDL staff members located at CDL offices in Oakland. Donna Kaiser and David Loy have arrived to fill vacancies in Digital Library Services and CDL Technologies respectively. Brian Tingle will join the CDL in January in a new strategic development programmer position.
a. Donna Kaiser
Donna Kaiser joined the CDL on November 13, 2000 as Digital Information Analyst in the Digital Library Services group. Donna brings a mix of interesting experiences in the academic environment, electronic publishing, and start-up companies. She has been an editorial assistant for scholarly journals, a technical writer, an instructor, an intellectual property manager, and most recently a “knowledge architect”. Donna holds an MLIS and is currently a PhD candidate in English at UC Berkeley. We expect to make use of her many talents in various projects.
b. David Loy
David Loy joined the CDL on November 20, 2000 as a programmer in the Access Group. During the development of the original Melvyl catalog David was the programmer who wrote the Melvyl catalog search parser and the DLA Record Management System (DLARMS). After leaving the UCOP Division of Library Automation, David spent some years as a programmer for Dialog. His most recent position was as a developer for Elingo, a company that provides web-based translation services.
c. Brian Tingle
Brian Tingle will join the strategic innovations group as a development programmer on January 1, 2001. Brian is currently a programmer and project supervisor with the software engineering department at the UCSD library. He has been involved in San Diego’s portal project and will contribute directly to collaborative development projects and in technology support for Counting California (previously known as California Counts), eScholarship, and other projects in development stages.
