Chadwyck-Healey databases transition to ProQuest
According to Proquest’s informational webpage, several databases will be moving from their legacy Chadwyck-Healey interface to the ProQuest platform, throughout 2022. As a result, these databases will be more discoverable as users will be able to cross-search content along with scholarly journals, news, historical documents and other relevant sources.
Of the transitioning databases licensed UC-systemwide,
- One database (The Gerritsen Collection of Aletta H. Jacobs; https://www.proquest.com/gerritsen) has been completed.
- Two databases are available on ProQuest, with the shutdown of the Chadwyck-Healey versions scheduled for October 31,2022.
- Acta Sanctorum; https://www.proquest.com/actasanctorum/advanced/ and
- Patrologia Latina; https://www.proquest.com/patrologialatina/advanced
- For the final database (C19 Index [C19: Nineteenth Century Index]) access at the Proquest platform is scheduled to begin in December 2022, with dual access through April 2023.
The new Gerritsen Women’s History Collection will be improved as part of the migration to the ProQuest Platform with:
- New searchable full text for each item in the collection, allowing users to get more accurate search results
- The ProQuest document viewer will allow users to quickly view each page of every item
Acta Sanctorum has been improved as part of the migration to the ProQuest Platform with:
- New close reading functionality that allows users to search within volumes and see the context of their hits within the table of contents
- A link to the Lexicon appears on all document pages, so users do not need to level the text to look up terms
- Basic search now recognizes Greek characters when typed or pasted into the search box
Patrologia Latina Database has been improved as part of the migration to the ProQuest Platform with:
- New close reading functionality that allows users to search within volumes and see the context of their hits within the table of contents
- A link to the Lexicon appears on all document pages, so users do not need to level the text to look up terms
- Basic search now recognizes Greek characters when typed or pasted into the search box
