a. Karen Coyle Retiring
After 23 years, and more projects to analyze, enhance, or migrate Melvyl – and bibliographic data generally – than can be easily counted, Karen Coyle will be transitioning herself this fall to a new life beyond UC employment. Although she will officially be retired – at least from UC – she plans to continue to be active in the many professional and policy arenas that she has pursued during her tenure as a librarian and technology analyst and commentator.
Karen’s contributions to the CDL and to its previous organizational incarnations have been inestimably large. They are matched in their scope and significance by the contributions she has made to the profession where she holds the best of international reputations and more accomplishments than can be set down in any brief announcement.
Karen’s official retirement date is December 1, 2003, but she will be taking some well-earned vacation prior to that. Her insight, wit, and wisdom will be sorely missed by everyone at the CDL and, we are certain, by her colleagues throughout UC.
A celebration of her UC career and accomplishments is being planned; please call (510) 987-0425 to add your name to those to whom details will be sent.
b. Diane Lee Joins the Administrative Team
Diane Lee joined the CDL starting July 1, 2003. Diane was formerly of Educational Outreach – Academic Affairs at the UC Office of the President where she has worked since Feb. 2002. Prior to moving to California and working for UCOP, she worked for twelve years in a Washington, D.C. law firm. She brings to her position extensive knowledge in travel arranging/reimbursement, accounting, conference/meeting arranging/event management, catering, and all other general administrative needs. Diane is filling an open position formerly held by Sherrell Holcomb.
