Maria Praetzellis joins UC3 as Product Manager

Please join me in welcoming Maria Praetzellis to CDL. She will be taking over the responsibilities of Product Manager for our research data management initiatives including DMPTool, the Support Your Data resource, and our NSF-funded machine-actionable DMP grant project.
Maria joins CDL with extensive experience in program management working on widely-used services for digital preservation, data stewardship, and open access from prior roles at the Internet Archive, JDC, and Rolling Stone magazine.
Prior to joining CDL, Maria was a Program Manager in the Web Archiving and Data Services group at the Internet Archive. At IA she worked with hundreds of universities, national libraries and governments, open infrastructure services, and non-profits to provide products and services for the collection, preservation, and accessibility of web-based resources. She managed services including global-scale web harvesting, dataset and indexing services, and computational access to large-scale data for researchers. Prior to this, she worked as a Web Archivist on Internet Archive’s Archive-It service, used by hundreds of institutions to build permanently accessible collections of web-published resources.
Before working at the Internet Archive, Maria led a large-scale digitization effort at the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and was Senior Archivist at Rolling Stone magazine, managing the manuscript and photo archives and overseeing the digitization of the magazine’s back catalog.
Maria has an MA in History with a graduate certificate in Archives from NYU. Her favorite pastimes include swinging in her hammock, gardening, and reading sci-fi/fantasy novels. Welcome, Maria!
