Another fond farewell – Mihoko Hosoi moves on to Penn State University Libraries

It’s with extraordinarily mixed emotions that I share this next bit of news with everyone.  It’s my sad but happy duty to announce that Mihoko Hosoi has accepted the position of Associate Dean for Collections, Research, and Scholarly Communications at The Pennsylvania State University Libraries, and will be leaving CDL in early September.
At Penn State, Mihoko will provide leadership, strategic direction, and support for collections, acquisitions, scholarly communication, subject libraries, and special collections. Building on her experience at CDL, Mihoko will also lead university-wide efforts on open access and scholarly communication models, and will also partner with colleagues across the Big Ten Academic Alliance and the Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc. (PALCI) to promote a user-centered collection strategy and collaborative collection development. Mihoko starts her new role at Penn State on October 1.
In her three-plus years at CDL, Mihoko has made major contributions to CDL’s licensed content portfolio:  leading our licensing team, overseeing a significant transition to a new FTE-based coinvestment model, revising and updating CDL’s model license agreement, negotiating excellent business and licensing terms for systemwide resources with significant cost savings (including overseeing cancellation projects on behalf of SCLG), and ensuring that CDL’s licensing work proceeded without interruption despite two (and at one point, three!) major vacancies on our team.  Her high standards, work ethic, and disarming laughter will be sorely missed.
