Meet Vasu Choudhary, CDL’s new Licensing Analyst
CDL is excited to announce that Vasu Choudhary will join the Collection Development & Management group as a Licensing Analyst, effective Wednesday, May 1, 2019.
Vasu currently works as a legal support specialist at the Office of General Counsel, UC Office of the President. She recently graduated from UC Berkeley’s School of Law, with a Master of Laws, ranking in the top 10% of her class. She previously worked at various law firms in the U.S. and in the U.K., and clerked for a Supreme Court judge in India. She is particularly interested in intellectual property and copyright laws. She obtained a Bachelor of Laws with honors from University of Warwick, United Kingdom, and is fluent in English and Hindi.
She will be drafting, editing and redacting the UC libraries’ licensing contracts to secure terms that meet UC libraries’ service goals and ensure compliance with UC policies. She’ll also be interpreting license provisions in the electronic resource management system (ERMS), communicating about our licenses with vendors and campuses, maintaining our license archive, obtaining signatures, and storing and posting licenses. She’ll also assist with related functions, such as collecting and analyzing usage data, producing reports or announcements for the UC library community, and participating in the life-cycle management of electronic resources.
