Metadata Analyst Opening for the Discovery & Delivery Team
The California Digital Library seeks a Metadata Analyst to work collaboratively and creatively with the CDL’s Discovery and Delivery (D2D) team of developers, product managers and analysts who develop and support a wide variety of library services including a union catalog for the University of California; instant access to books and journals; and an interlibrary loan system. Consortial systems include a metadata management system and a collection analysis and decision support system.
The D2D Metadata Analyst will identify, assess, and address metadata management needs in a range of data flows and systems, in part as a member of the team that manages metadata for the HathiTrust, a digital library preservation and access partnership in which the University of California actively participates. Responsibilities include engaging with metadata contributors to analyze submissions, developing metadata transformation use cases, working with team members to determine the system requirements that will address prioritized needs, and translating requirements into metadata handling specifications. Ideal candidates will be service-oriented, rigorous data sleuthers who are driven to solve detailed data problems and who are energized by new and evolving opportunities to mine large datasets and realize useful data interactions across complex systems and workflows.
