DMPTool Service Update: May 2016
Recent Enhancements, News, and Activities
- Brian Riley joined our ranks officially as the DMPTool Technical Lead! And another warm welcome to our new UC3 DevOps/Developer guru, Jim Vanderveen.
- Bug fixes. Bug-squashing is nearing the finish line. You can follow our progress in the GitHub issue tracker and via the DMPTool communication channels.
- Machine-actionable DMPs. Everyone agrees that machine-actionable DMPs—or DMPs with more formalized structure and content that enables researchers, institutions, funders, repositories, etc. to extract useful info and monitor compliance—are something we should be striving to achieve. We have some ideas of our own about how to do this, and a platform to test them, but we’d also love to know what others are thinking and/or doing in this regard. Please send us your use cases, proposals for integration, anything of the ilk!
- Template inventory. In preparation for future (more structured) DMPs and to bring our template-crafting practices in line with those of DMPonline, we’re taking inventory of our existing public templates and updating the list of new templates that need to be added (e.g., DOD, NASA, NIJ/DOJ). Let us know if you need a specific template stat and we’ll bump it to the front of the line.
- Roadmap update. We’ve consolidated the project team, created a new Github repository, and drafted a rough roadmap. We also hosted Marta Ribeiro (DMPonline Technical Lead) in Oakland to define our co-development process and will be making an exchange visit to Scotland in June to finish ironing out the details. Get the full report on the DMPTool blog and stay tuned for regular updates.
